I'm an admirer of collages.

I've awoken to the powerfully strange potentials of the craft just recently. My sister keeps a box full of bizarre old books and magazines that she's collected over the years from opshops (thrift stores). I've attempted to collage with them but I never seem to be satisfied with the order of things or when to stop...

Emil's collages suit the Holy Sons albums beautifully and has flicked off a couple of framed pieces on eBay too. The composition, colours, and material used are brilliant. I would love to see more of his stuff: alternative album covers, personal favorites etc. I hope my foray into collage making will prove just as successful. I've already started hoarding and have collected some interesting stuff. An old Phantom comic, a Return of the Jedi comic from 1984 (found it on the street).

Have you guys made collages of your own or know of any great collage artists?
What kind of images do you use and where do you get them from?

Post photos!

I'm also a fan of collages. the use of so many sources to make a unified and interesting piece is a great art. I'm also a fan of Emil's works, especially those that were on the Holy Sons site a while ago. a year or two ago I was inspired to make a collage, and luckily for me, I had a few years' worth of National Geographic magazines laying around (ranging from 2008 to 1988) and came up with this:

()

I too feel like it's hard to judge stopping points and what exactly a piece needs, as well as trying not to just cut and paste too many random things on the page, and I never really "finished" that piece (many of the smaller things in that picture aren't actually attached, just placed there) and after a lot of moving and such very recently, I have no idea where this thing is :[ but it sure was a good time making it

Ha! That's a great one! I especially like the woman down in the bottom right. It almost looks like she's the source of all the madness.

These are two that I have managed to make.

File comment: This one is a collage of some of my drawings. 2 of them aren't mine.

File comment: This one is from the Phantom comic that I mentioned. The text says
"A PUFF OF SMOKE, -- AND APPEARING OUT OF THIN AIR-"
"-THE SCARLET SORCERESS!"
